Online Safety

At our school, we are committed to ensuring that all pupils are able to use technology safely, responsibly and positively. Online safety is an integral part of safeguarding and is embedded across the curriculum, staff training and our wider school culture.

Teaching and Learning

Online safety is taught through our curriculum, including computing and PSHE. Pupils are supported to:

  • Understand how to stay safe online
  • Recognise risks such as cyberbullying, inappropriate content and online contact
  • Develop critical thinking skills when using digital content
  • Know how and where to seek help if they are worried

We aim to empower pupils to become confident and responsible digital citizens.

Safeguarding and Monitoring

The school uses appropriate filtering and monitoring systems to ensure that access to online content is safe and secure while in school. These systems are regularly reviewed to ensure they are effective and age-appropriate.

Staff receive regular training on online safety and safeguarding, enabling them to:

  • Identify and respond to concerns
  • Support pupils effectively
  • Escalate issues where necessary in line with safeguarding procedures

Any concerns about online safety are managed in accordance with our Child Protection and Safeguarding Policy.

Working with Parents and Carers

We recognise the importance of working in partnership with families to support children’s online safety. We provide:

  • Guidance and updates to parents and carers
  • Information about current online risks and trends
  • Advice on how to support safe use of technology at home

We encourage parents and carers to talk regularly with their children about their online activity.

Reporting Concerns

Pupils are encouraged to speak to a trusted adult in school if they feel unsafe or worried about anything online. Parents and carers can also contact the school directly with any concerns.
